Judy Marchman

Judy Marchman enjoys a robust career as both teacher 和 performer. She sings opera, concert, 和 recital repertoire, 和 has enjoyed positive critical review. As a teacher, she excels in teaching classical, contemporary, 和 musical theater singers. Her students have successfully transitioned into graduate programs 和 careers as performers.

As a lyric coloratura, Dr. Marchman has been praised as having a “high, bell-like voice” whose “sendups of coloratura pyrotechnics soar with ease above vocalists 和 instruments alike.” (South Florida Classical Review) She has performed the roles of Miss Wordsworth (艾伯特鲱鱼) 和 Eurydice (Les Malheurs d’Orfée). As a soloist, she has performed in several large oratorio works, such as Mozart’s 安魂曲,福尔 安魂曲,拉特 颂歌 和 格洛丽亚巴赫的 颂歌, 和维瓦尔第的 格洛丽亚除其他外. She has been accepted to perform at the OperaWorks Summer 和 Winter Workshops, the Atlantic 音乐 Festival, the National Association of Teachers of Singing National Conference in Boston, 和 the National Opera Association Conference in Indianapolis. Performance awards include the Milton Cross Award 和 the Friedrich 和 Virginia Schorr Memorial Award.

As an educator of vocal pedagogy, she is a collaborative researcher with the UHealth Otolaryngology department at the Miller School of Medicine. She is co-author of the article, “Prevalence of Vocal Fold Pathologies Among First-Year Singing Students Across Genres” published in 2019 in The Larygoscope. A follow-up article is soon to be published in VOICEPrints Magazine in 2022. A second study was published in the Journal of Voice in 2020, titled “Quantifying Subjective 和 Objective Measures of Singing After Different Warm-Up Durations”.

Most recently, Dr. Marchman has presented at the Pan American Vocology Association 和 will present at the Fall Voice Conference in October 2021. In the past, Dr. Marchman has presented at the Symposium on Singing 和 Song in Newfoundl和, Canada; the Florida 音乐 Educators Association Conference; National Association of 音乐 Educators National Conference; the College 音乐 Society National Conference; the CMS Pacific Northwest, 南部, 东南部, Great Lakes 和 Mountain Regional Conferences; 和 the CMS Summit: 音乐 和 the Mind in Seattle.

Dr. Marchman completed her D.M.A in Vocal Pedagogy 和 Performance at the University of Miami, her M.M. at Florida State University, B.M. at Palm Beach Atlantic University, 和 is currently pursuing a M.Ed. in Educational Psychology at the University of Georgia.
